Ultima Thule pint glass set of 4
The Ultima Thule pint glass is part of Iittala’s iconic glassware series created in 1968 by Tapio Wirkkala. The beautiful Ultima Thule pint is made of mouth-blown clear glass. Differing from other Ultima Thule glasses with a 45cl capacity and a robust handle, the pint glass is well suited for serving beer or hot drinks such as mulled wine.
Ultima Thule got its inspiration from the melting spring ice of Northern Finland. The Ultima Thule collection is based on a so-called ice glass technique developed together by Iittala and Tapio Wirkkala – the forms imitate nature and gradually change as the molten glass burns the surface of the moulds. The Finnish airline Finnair chose Ultima Thule for its new route from Helsinki to New York in 1969. The glassware is still in use at Finnair’s Business Class.
